How come a career website will talk about business? Shouldn’t we just leave this topic to other site? I always believe that a career minded people without strong business skills will bring the company to failure. They don’t understand how business being run, they don’t what is the important key performance indicator of the operation or industry. This is why I like to talk about business in this site. Here I just like to touch base on some fundamental of business.
World Economy
Business exists because it allows the free flow of resource around the world. It allows the world to exchange their goods, services with some dollar amount. This is how the world economy being drive by business. In general, 60%-80% of a country GDP is contributes by small business owner. Without business owner, we may not able to get our job in the market as most of the jobs are from business that has less than 100 employees.
To be rich
Most of us like to work for other people and wait for our retirement fund. If you really want to be rich and get a life out from your daily job, starting a business will be a wise choice. With business, as long as you are hardworking and able to plan for long term, you can be rich faster and easier compare to working for other people. The only thing you need to do is to put in more effort in your business to bring it to next level.
To support the community
Without business, the people will have no way to contribute their skills, earn money to pay bill and build a better society. Business is a form of exchange of goods or resources. When there is exchange of goods or services, it will add more value to the community. (I try not to talk too much about economy) When there is more value in the community, you will able to get more support, money, resources from the community itself.
Business is about make money. If you can’t make money or hate to make money from selling something, there are no reasons you should start your business. It will be better for you to work for other people to earn your pay check. Many of us think that the business should care about social responsibility, energy issue, employment issue….. Think again, if the business is not making money, it can’t pay their bill, it can’t pay the employee salaries, what is the meaning of participating in social responsibility. It just makes the matter worst because you are not focus enough! If you are in business, please make sure you are doing what matter in your business, not what other people think is important.
